Averion's Metrics Suite
Why Metrics?
Clinical trial metrics are used to measure overall project performance and progress. Today’s technology allows us to collect, store and analyze data from disparate sources in order to make sound strategic decisions. It is common practice in risk management for decisions to be made quickly, therefore data must be up-to-date and available in real-time. Averion researches the most effective ways to collect and represent all of our data through the use of technology, process modification and workflow improvement.
What is the Averion Metrics Suite?
Averion has developed a Central DataStore to report and analyze data from any and all databases or systems involved in a trial/program. This incudes date from our clinical databases, monitoring visit database, client management systems, our timekeeping or timesheet database, Safety Databases and Clinical Trial Management System. By centralizing data from these different data sources Averion is able to store, report, analyze and cross reference this data more effectively and efficiently.
Metrics Types:
Our metrics falls within three categories:
1. Study Status Reports -your typical page, enrollment and query status reports
2. Study Management Reports - study progress reports that identify rates of productivity such as identifying poor performing sites with a low screened to enrolled ratio; page, visit report and query turnaround metrics that measure the time it takes for a page, visit report or query to reach each stage of its process.; budget reports on the current budget available and compares this against the volume of work done to give rate of productivity; scope management metrics which always monitor actual amounts against the scoped for amounts to calculate variances in the scope units.
3. Staff Management Reports are internal metrics that each department has in order to measure the performance of their staff. Such data allows Averion to set standards of productivity based on historical real-study data which they hold the staff accountable to and also use to accurately develop bids for future trials.
We have over 40 reports that we make available to everyone on the team via our secured intranet. No data is provided through word of mouth that the individual does not have access to themselves from their desktop thus holding all in the team accountable to doing all of the work on time and within budget.
